From 31 May to 13 June or al 18 June 2019
Far away places untouched by mass tourism, lonely valleys surrounded by 6000m peaks will be the background to our trip. In the second part of the travel, during the last 5 days, we’ll move south for a breathtaking adventure in the world’s largest salt flat: deserts, vulcans, natural thermal baths, gaysers, coloured lagoons and others from the most extraordinary spectacles in nature.
From La Paz, seat of Bolivia’s government, we’ll move north west, into the Cordillera Real, where our trek begin. Our path will lead us, through 5000m high passes, to Cerro Condoriri (5680m) base camp and, finally, we’ll reach laguna Milluni, near Huayna Potosì base camp. During our trip we’ll be able to climb Pico De Austria 5310m: these days of high altitude hiking will be essential in order to get a proper altitude acclimatization and be fully prepared, after a resting day in La Paz, for the challenging climbing of Nevado Huayna Potosì 6088m
Basic skills in using crampons and ice axe are required for the Huayna Potosì climbing as we will climb a 40° slope in order to get the summit. Length and elevation gain of the summit day, combined with high altitude, require good physical shape.
